I'm getting a tooth pulled and an implant put in soon. When I got a cavity once I made a CD to listen to while they drilled me up. It was all my favorite songs up until that point. I'm thinking this was somewhere in 2003, or early 2004, when I was 14.

    1. Anthem of Our Dying Day- Story of the Year
    2. Empty Apartment- Yellowcard
    3. Bloody Valentine- Good Charlotte
    4. Thousand Miles- Vanessa Carlton
    5. Stay With Me- Finch
    6. The Shooting Star that Destroyed Us All- A Static Lullaby
    7. Tuesday Morning- Michelle Branch
    8. What Do You Do?- The Troys
    9. Saints and Angels- Sara Evans
    10. I Have Everything About You- Three Days Grace
    11. Are You a Ghost?- B*Witched
    12. 18 Wheeler- Pink
    13. Change The World- P.O.D.
    14. Give It Up- Fefe Dobson
    15. Running Away (acoustic)- Hoobastank
    16. You Don't, You Won't- Billy Gilman
    17. Tourniquet- Evanescence

Then when I had to get my (first) root canal (on the tooth that's getting pulled...) I made another mix of faves. This one just my favorites from the year 2004.

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.
Step 2: Pick your favorite lines from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.
Step 3: Comment with song title and artist.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

  • eclectic tastes and a summer

Less than two weeks, and I'm coming up on 1000 tracks. That's what happens when I spend every spare minute on my computer, and listen to music constantly while on my computer.

And as for my top artists...I think eclectic is the word. It just goes to show that I'll get into almost anything, given enough push towards it. My family and friends have always been instrumental in that. From Steph quoting Yellowcard lyrics in her eljay until I had to figure out what that was all about, to Kattie playing Billy Gilman. That was about four years ago, I think. Of course, there's always the familial influences, too. Too much love for everything. I can't wait til I have this computer at home again, so I can rip more of my dad's cd collection onto it. I still haven't got all his Elton John albums on here.

Unfortunately, this thing won't be hooked to the internet again until mid-august, after I go home next week, so my charts here won't be updated. I think I'll live, though. I'll try and get a decent representation by then.
  • Well.

Following my recent rush of listening to Vast and Brand New, I've decided to regress slightly. In my musical tastes, that is... I'm going back through my CD collection, through all the CDs that I actually liked enough to buy and seeing whether I still like them...

Strangely, this has meant that I've been listening to some very weird mixes of music - Good Charlotte has come up a lot, as has Blink 182, and with a fair amount of Tom Lehrer thrown in for good measure... Billy Gilman has even made an appearance, which is mildly frightening...

I've come to the conclusion that some of my development as a discerning music listener has definitely been a good thing. While Good Charlotte are fun, and appeals to my sense of fun, I'm not sure that they fit into the category of intelligent music. I wish I still listened to Robert Miles as much as I used to, 'though. Dreamland was the first CD I ever owned, I think (Possibly the second after Blue), so it has a fair amount of significance in my head...
