It may have been camelot for jack and jacqueline
But on the che guevara highway filling up with gasoline
Fidel castro's brother spies a rich lady who's crying
Over luxury's disappointment

This song is the antidote to feeling burnt out, jaded or cynical... it still sends a shiver down my spine

The true beauty of this song is seeing it live and listening to the many transformations that the lyrics go through over the years, not many artists allow their songs to evolve over time, and not many artist's fans like to see it happen. Another reason why Bill is so unique.

This song didn't single-handedly convert me, I was always a bit of a leftie, but the imagery and feeling in this song makes you glad you're not alone. Some people like Billy don't need to try too hard they are naturally very human, witness the amount of wonderful love/relationship songs he's written without ever descending into formula or cliche

"This song single-handedly converted me to socialism. " Ummm...you might want to do a little more intellectual research than a song. You could probably start with WWII.

"In a perfect world we'd all sing in tune, but this is reality, SO GIVE ME SOME ROOM." -- My mom doesn't understand a lot of singer-songwriters for this reason. But it makes so much sense.

How great must a song be for a person who despises socialism to think this is one of the most underrated songs ever written!!! Just another reason to hate both "pop" and "classic rock" radio.
