Heard the full 7min "Somma Tummo" driving to work in the dark early one morning on WPFW. It was totally radio unfriendly and I knew it was kismet from the outset of the growling dirge.

I've just checked out what a brilliant album of uneasy post-punk funk urban ambience.

a lot of different things going on with the Invisible Design albums on Tzadik. Solo bass. 2012 will see some solo shows, starting with one planned in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge on January 7 - part of Winter Jazz Fest.

Bill's style IS dubby. Don't you ask him to go any other way. ;)

Does Bill have any solo albums where he really showcases his bassplaying in a virtuoso sort of style, rather than dubby. Not sure how to ask what I'm asking for, but there is a video on youtube of him jamming with Derek Bailey, DJ Disk and Jack DeJohnette, and his playing on that is some of the most impressive I've heard from him... I'd like to hear more like it.

If Bill Laswell's Imaginary Cuba was something you enjoyed you might also like to check out BudNubac, I'm not going to lie and say it's just like Laswell. Laswell's album is much more percussion-oriented and traditionally Cuban. However, as another example of Cuban/Dub juxtaposition, BudNubac are really worth a listen. Click the link, we'd appreciate it. There's also a myspace if you want to comment.
