Biography

Big Dipper was an energetic indie guitar band from Boston in the late ’80s. They wrote incredibly infectious songs about the end of the world and girls who didn’t know how beautiful they were.

Their members included Bill Goffrier (formerly of The Embarassment), Steve Michener (formerly of Dumptruck and Volcano Suns), Gary Waleik (also formerly of Volcano Suns), and Jeff Oliphant (formerly of XS (Punk Rock)).

Big Dipper may also refer to a raunchy gay rapper from Chicago. http://bigdippermusic.tumblr.com

    The Boo Boo/Heavens disc in the Supercluster Anthology is great. So many awesome songs. Wet Weekend and Loch Ness Monster are my favorite so far.

    How do these guys not have a bigger following? HOW?? I wish so much they had persisted and reached their full potential, but still what they gave us is pretty damn incredible, and it's completely accessible. It's times like these when I feel like the world is just beyond my grasp. Now where's our reunion tour?!
