Born in 1964, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, songwriter/singer Beto Furquim divides his time between the words (as a journalist and book editor) and music. In 2000, his song Estrela da manhã was performed by Monica Salmaso in the Festival da Música Brasileira (Brazilian Music Festival), promoted by TV Globo. This performance was broadcasted all over the country and internationally, and was recorded in the CD with the 12 finalists of the festival, by the label Som Livre. In 2007, he won a governmental award for making Muito Prazer (2008), unsigned, distributed by the label Tratore.

Furquim’s debut release Muito Prazer is produced by Mario Manga and Leandro Bomfim, with Monica Salmaso and Mauricio Pereira as guest appearances, and graphic design by Alex Cerveny and Vanderlei Lopes. Among the 12 tracks, only one isn’t composed by Furquim: Jing Ye Si, song over chinese poet Li Bai’s lyrics, sung in Mandarin.
The album shows the main influences of Furquim: rhythms as are present in tracks like À beira mar and Resposta, while pop references are spread all over in tracks like Olhos de morcego and Sinuosa. Some modern classical influence can be identified also in the mysterious atmosphere of Margem, inspired by Brazilian writer Guimaraes Rosa short story The Third Bank of the River.
