Nottingham, United Kingdom

Bent is the name of the Nottingham, UK,duo formed by Neil Tolliday (aka Nail Tolliday) and Simon Mills. Their critically acclaimed début album was Programmed to Love (2000) and their latest is Intercept! (Oct 2006).

Programmed to Love was a very successfully for advertisement music. “Invisible Pedestrian” track featured in a 2003 Absolut Vodka commercial and, more famously, a late-90’s USA Volkswagen bus commercial. Also, “Private Road” was included in a ‘Bank of Carlsberg’ TV ad’ clip (Dec 2001).

wow... this band. holy shit. so so so so good. Napoleon (Simon Mills) is very good too but it seems like these geniuses have faded into obscurity.

I spent 2013 looking for Bent's side-projects, but skiped From the Vaults for some silly reason. Funny. And I'm not even dissapointed with myself. Because it's 2014, March, Spring in Moscow and new album by Bent is playing in my headphones. Such a good day).

Simon Mills of Bent has been working under a side project by the name of Napoleon recently and he just released his second album, "Magpies", under that name late last year. It is stunningly gorgeous and a testament to the beauty and whimsy of Bent sound. Absolutely recommended listening.
