The story behind “Into the Night” charting twice is this: In 1989, KZZP, a radio station in Arizona, ran a segment titled “Where Are They Now?” The most popular question was, ‘Whatever happened to the guy who sang “Into The Night?”’ Scott Shannon, then program director for Pirate Radio in Los Angeles, added “Into The Night” to its playlist. Radio stations across the country followed suit and “Into The Night” was once again a hit.
Due to the success of “Into The Night,” Curb Records signed Mardones and he recorded “Into The Night ‘89.” The track appeared on his self-titled release (known as the “Blue Album” by his fans.) Not long after that, Benny appeared on a Showtime tribute to Roy Orbison, alongside such luminaries as Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, Johnny Cash, and k.d. lang. Elvis Presley’s band was the house band for the evening. When Mardones came on stage to sing “Running Scared,” few people knew his name, but when he finished the song he received a standing ovation.
Even though his lone hit charted twice, Mardones is still considered a “one-hit wonder.” He continues to have a substantial fan following in Syracuse, New York. Mardones’ band is known as the Hurricanes.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and was raised in Savage, Maryland. He currently resides in Southern California. He has one son, Michael, who was born in 1985.

PS: sorry IMO 2002 was his best for me, I listen to both and found that it brrings the song to your heart the other version just wasnt right sounded diff but thanks for giving us all this song. To bad I found you in 89.The year of my one and real love. love then let go at times..We were not 16yr either to many got into our bus.Oh well life is short love that one your with never let them go.No matter what! hugs 2 all.

We lov you here in CA.Benny song was my intro to his awesome voice. Also my one real love in life, that we both loved but had to say goodbye with this song Forever in my heart will Jimmy be and our last nite together we made sure this played, if to say,You'll always have my heart,for the times that aren't good you still have me in your mind,no one can take that from us.Thanks Benny for thiis song we did fly away our last nite and we both wont ever forget this lov.Along with this song.For us we were alot older then 16, only you can fall in love at any age, someone will read this who knows it always feels good to know someone else had one love they wont ever forget only both had to let go..I know when you hear our songs Jimmy I cross your mind, knowin one day soon will meet again in Heaven, Into the nite.forever together.
