Benedicte Brænden makes her solo debut with the album Doghouse Rose; pop music with heavy influences from country, rockabilly and Americana. Despite of an extensive career in music, Benedicte appears as a breath of fresh air on the Norwegian music scene with her mix of genres, stylish appearance and characteristic voice. Her single “The Easy Way” has gotten a lot of air-time on radio stations around the country.

Songwriting has always been a centre of attention for Benedicte, and this might be one of her biggest talents, with genuine lyrics and catchy melodies. On this album, she has written most of the material herself, in addition to contributions from American singer-songwriter Martin Hagfors, Signe Marie Rustad and a cover of Richard Thompsons “Wall of Death”.

Benedicte Brænden is for many Norwegians best known from “Lyden av Lørdag” a show from the Norwegian national broadcasting corporation, where she ended up as one of six finalists. Before that, she was lead singer of the popular all-girl-band “Bazooka Boppers”, until she chose to pursue a solo career in 2006.

In the spring of 2007, she got a unique opportunity to tour Germany with the band “Tito & Tarantula”, known from Quentin Tarantino movies like Desperado, From Dusk till Dawn and Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
