Biography

Ben Moody, guitarist of We Are the Fallen, started out as the co-founder of the band, Evanescence. After leaving in October 2003 during the European tour, he moved on to a solo project and began producing songs for other artists. The list includes Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Lindsay Lohan, Bo Bice, Godhead, 3Faced, Daughtry and Celine Dion. He has also been producing, writing and touring with singer-songwriter Hana Pestle.

Ben has released songs on both The Punisher and Fantastic Four soundtracks (the former also features fellow Evanescence co-founder, Amy Lee performing with Seether).

On Tuesday December 16, 2008 he released his Mutiny Bootleg EP, which came free with a copy of Hana Pestle’s EP that night. Moody is quoted as saying “there’s a duet between Hana and I on there that won’t be on the record and won’t be released anywhere ever again. It’s free because I want this sh*t spread everywhere, so be sure that all your friends share the four songs with as many people as possible!” The EP is therefore available for free download from http://drop.io/benmoodymutinybootlegep.

His debut solo album, All for This, featuring Hana Pestle on backing vocals, has been in the works since 2005 and was released June 9, 2009 on iTunes, Amazon MP3 and Amie Street via his own record label. The physical release is forthcoming.

We Are the Fallen, featuring Ben Moody, John LeCompt and Rocky Gray (all formerly of Evanescence), along with Carly Smithson and Marty O’Brien, debuted on June 22, 2009 with the song “Bury Me Alive.”

Como é será, tudo que alguem fale sobre ele, tem que envolve-lo com o nome "Amy Lee" e "Evanescence"? Eu acho que isso deve cansa-lo e vcs contribuem com isso... [2]

Well, I like the new and old Evanescence. But I have to agree, after Ben leave the Ev, Amy feels more the music that she sings...of course, because the music speaks about her emotions (When Ben leaving the Ev and her "romance" with Shaun).

The Open Door is their best though.. Lyrically it is the most genuine and honest imo and the musicianship is far better than their past stuff. If anything all their other albums seem 'forced and pretentious'. Origin is another masterpiece, even though it's only a Demo and not an actual album.

"obviously Ev's best work." That's a sweeping statement and assumption if I've ever heard one. I think that The Open Door is amongst their "worst" work. It isn't bad, but compared to their other stuff it seems forced and pretentious, despite being fun to sing along to. Origin, in my opinion, is their best work.

I'm obviously referring to Fallen.. I mean c'mon look at WATF's debut, generic and bland at it's best. Amy Lee proved they were much better without Ben with The Open Door, which is obviously Ev's best work. Their new album IS generic but has some really good songs, but still manages to be much better than Fallen.

Ben's latest album is everything but generic and bland, so how one can argue that his influence on Evanescence - whose latest album, on the other hand, is rather commercial-sounding - led to them being generic, is beyond me.

I agree with Taboo.. I never liked Ben's influence on Ev.. too generic and bland. They're much better now without the old band too. I saw them live not too long ago and I was amazed at how heavier they sounded.. Amy was flawless and sounded better than she ever did during Fallen era.

Of course, I disagree again on everything xD The tone of her voice is better now just because she's older and she has learned a lot since Fallen, that's understandable. For me would be impossible to say those vocals or instrumentals are Soulless o.O but I guess that depends on your concept of "emotion", because their music nowadays is undoubtely "happier". Well, we all can have lots of opinions about Evanescence's works, BUT the thing I can assure is you cannot judge a musician like Ben hearing just one song or two or three.... because in the same way Evanescence have done different things that allow us to have different opinions, Ben has made his different things too... very different between them in fact!

The only reason they won two Grammy's is because Fallen was obviously tailor made for radio. The instrumentals are weak, overly simplistic, and boring. Even Amy's voice doesn't make it interesting for me, because she sounds weak. The tone of her voice is quite literally "victim". She sounds powerful now, yet even more emotional. The vocals on Fallen are soulless, but now she sounds as if she feels every word more deeply than entire songs from that album. This is why TOD and third album are way better and its not that hard to figure that out unless you can't accept change and growth ...and about Ben, well I don't follow what he does but heard a video of a song of his that he released last week. Pretty much the same stuff.. and winning a Grammy doesn't mean anything really, especially when you have Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga winning them too :p
