Fred sits alone at his desk in the dark
There's an awkward young shadow who waits in the hall
Yeah, he's cleared all his things and he's put them in boxes
Things that remind him that life has been good

@jono -- my favorite is when the harmony comes in. very sad, poignant, and right into the plucked strings. ouch. sad.

@jwheare --"Fred Jones, Pt. 1" is actually a song called "Cigarette" off of the Ben Folds Five album -- Whatever and Ever Amen.

It's funny how listening to different parts of the same song can give you a different appreciation of it. Try focusing on the strings. It's almost more poignant. Definitely reminded me how beautiful the song is.

Poor Fred, I wonder what happened to Part 1. This song is melancholy, miserable and righteous, but never depressing. S'alright, he didn't need them anyway.

SO DAMN DEPRESSING! i would not stop playing it if it was just not so damn sad. the one that deserve glory rarely get (that you be a good band name... no that is more of an album title)

Dunno why but this song literally made me cry the first time I listened to it. That doesn't happen for me very often.
