Beirut has changed about as much as M83, though I know they are apples to oranges. Both albums are extremely good. If you are judging an artist based on how complex it is, go listen to 8-bit.

I have no idea why there is so much negativity around this album. This album is my personal favorite. The still have those loud blazing horns. Coupled with simply amazing melodies, this album turns out into a definite masterpiece.

I'm with those less keen on this album. For me it sounds more like a standard indie band throwing in a few less common elements, rather than the organic whole that Beirut have previously created. That said, Goshen, the t/t and maybe Santa Fe are still as great as before. But in general, the sound just doesn't cut it like before.

What happened to the proud, blaring horns, the complex arrangements? Why the watered down piano? I really miss their old sound. [5] I like that they decided to go in a simpler direction, but it feels like a step back from their earlier stuff.

This work of his isn't anywhere comparable to Gulag Orkestar.

his albums get poppier and poppier and this is just the worst. Vagabond is good though.

Today I was at dance workshop and I heard a song, which I knew it is Beirut but I didn't recognised the song! So after coming home I discovered Beirut has album which I don't have. What I wanted to say is, I heard a song from this album and I knew it's Beirut. So I don't know what are you talking about when you say the special beirut sound is missing here. :) I love this album like any others :)

Love this album. It's not as complexed as their others but I love it's subtlety and simplicity. It's an interesting and great direction for the band to have moved in.

Why do you people get all bent out of shape when a band tweaks what they're doing? It's not your fucking career, your art, your music.
