Behind The Nine Ball is an alternative rock band from northwestern Pennsylvania. It was formed in late 1998 as a “band” format to encompass the solo musical output of Mike Litzinger, formerly of the northwestern PA band Yellow No. 5 (which was at that point slowly dissolving and would eventually call it quits by August 1999).

All of Behind The Nine Ball’s studio output is generally completely written, performed, and recorded by Mike without outside assistance. However, sporadic live performances as a full band have included such members as Steve Gramley & Nathan Gramley, both formerly of Yellow No. 5 (and other bands), Jesse Lavery (formerly of The Subclavians), Bob Bazylak (formerly of Dick’s Loft) and Jim Kipp (bass guru), as well as various special guests over the years.

An “album” of sorts entitled “Darkest Dreams” was released in late 2000, but many of the songs included were at best demo-quality both in songwriting and performance, and was not widely distributed.

A more satisfactory quality EP release which followed in 2001, entitled “Fallout,” is considered to be the first “official” release. It contained a few studio recordings and a track from the live band.

During early 2006, Mike recorded and released a solo acoustic EP under his own name titled “Eleven Days.”

Most recently, first proper full-length album release titled “Love In Stereo” was released on September 9, 2009. Featuring a dozen tracks polished from the first decade of the project’s existence, it has been made available both as a free download from www.behindthenineball.com and as a special edition CD with custom packaging.
