About this album

Nordland I is the eleventh full-length album by Bathory, released in 2003. It is characterized by an unapologetic return to the of Bathory’s middle period, and features songs written mainly about Viking warfare. It was to be the first in a projected four-album set, but Quorthon only lived long enough to finish the first two volumes (Nordland II was the second).

Nordland I & II are my favourite viking metal albums, and first albums that I discovered the genre with, but lately I bought high quality and super accurate headphones, the crackling in these albums comes out very sharply and my ears cant handle it :(

@zim389, I'd say you should listen to the self-titled. That is if you're still looking for straight-up black metal. This album is cool too, however. As far as Quorthon's viking stuff goes, I really dig Hammerheart and Twilight of the Gods.

EPIC. [3] I came to Bathory looking for and expecting straight-up Black Metal... what I found was something else. Something colorful, melodic, and imaginative. Thanks for the surprise. \m/
