Again tonight I sang a song, a prayer if you will
Fell to the floor on blackened knees, and all the trees fell still
Press my hands between my thighs, and poured the thistle milk
Begged the thunder bolts to strike and mark me as alive

she's really an expert at pulling off a 100% solid album opener [2]

Yep, a usual strong BFL opener. Besides Laura, the only outstanding song on The Haunted Man.

she's really an expert at pulling off a 100% solid album opener... the rest of the album falls away from her usual cohesiveness but the songs on their own are strong

Never heard a song spreading so much hope. I want this to be played at my funeral, honestly.

Comparisons thrown at BFL are usually way off, but her voice IS Kate Bush on this song. If I'd only heard the "thank god i'm alive" part and didn't know it was Natasha, I would seriously argue that it was Kate, and i know my shit when it comes to BFL and Kate. It's fucking eerie but this is still a beautiful track.

V my thoughts exactly. It definitely has this Diva-esque vibe to it, especially when it comes to vocals. It's a good thing though.

With all the Kate Bush and PJ Harvey comparisons that are being thrown around about Natasha, I've wait to see anyone name check the more obvious (in my opinion) Annie Lennox sound that she has in this song, anyone with me?
