Bare Knuckles was founded in 1996 by Wayne Sides and Jake Berry. They have performed at various venues and festivals in the southeast and on radio and television. Their first CD, TROUBLE IN YOUR HOUSE, was released in 1998 followed by ALABAMA DUST in 1999. After a four year break to pursue other projects they reunited in 2004 to write and record DOPPELGANGER BLUES, which was released in March, 2005. Sides sings and plays tub bass, bass box, percussion and guitar. Berry sings and plays guitar and mandolin. They have been joined on one or more of the CDs by J. J. Fago on keyboards, Max Russell on electric and slide guitar, Bradley Brock on banjo, Jeff Berry on acoustic guitar, James Wisniewski on flute and trumpet, Richard Curtis on scat vocals, April Brockwell on backing vocals, Penny Qubeck on mandolin, Keith Henry on electric guitar and backing vocals, and Chris Mansell on percussion. Sides and Berry write most of the music, but have also recorded songs co-written with Jon Berry and Chris Mansel. In performance they mix original songs with classic and obscure blues and folk songs.
