23 Jun 2009, 18:32 by HealeyIslandVeeeeeeeeery mellow feel to the first part of this week's Analogue Island, before an elevating and possibly enervating change of gear moves us from melodic lo-fi folk, electronic and ambient sounds to a more upbeat mood. So sit back and relax to some of the finest music on offer from the world of independent artists and labels.
Again the show draws from a diverse range of music while managing (I hope) to hang together as a coherent whole.
This weeks show features the following artists (in no particular order)
entertainment for the braindead
Mangelt Aka Thaiko
This is broadcast on Friday 19th of June @ 8pm British Summer Time (7pm Greenwich Mean tIme) for an hour.

26 Mar 2008, 19:55 by R_KamideesThat's not a type-o, BTW. This is another way to easily share your gift for compiling the perfect mix of tracks for that special someone in your life (me?).
I guess last.fm allows you to do the same thing, but this is a way to share music with someone who isn't hip enough to know about audio scrobbling. You get to upload 12 tracks to express how much you feel your friends are completely divorced of good music. Quick, make one so you can say you knew about Muxtape before it went all commercial.
And here's mine:
12 songs, 46:27 minutes
*The Six Parts Seven - From California To Houston, On Lightspeed (Re.Volutionized By Isaac Brock Of Modest Mouse)
*Aloha - Mountain
*MC5 - I Can Only Give You Everything
*The Velvet Teen - Radiapathy
*The Chameleons - Things I Wish I'd Said
*The Pretenders - Time The Avenger
*Yeasayer - 2080
*Balún - Snol
*Final Fantasy - Your Light is Spent
*Kinks - Nothin' in the World Can Stop Me From Worryin' 'Bout That Girl

I attended the triple pop action of Boat, Balún, and Walker Kong (plus some deeply mismatched local singer-songwriter) on a summery Friday night.
It’s a crying shame that Walker Kong rarely play outside their native Minneapolis as it’s been three years since I saw them open for Camera Obscura; a gig at which they floored me despite opening for one of my favorite bands and despite terrible horrible heat! It’s also a shame that they were the first band on the bill as there were few people there to appreciate just how fantastic this band is. I hate to use the adjective “tight” to describe them, but that’s just what they are! There are five members of the band and they’re heading towards gender parity with women on drums and keyboards/tambourine. Yes! They play upbeat indie pop, but pop that is rich with soul. They are not dissimilar to Belle and Sebastian, but they are more consistent than them. …

18 Jul 2006, 19:26 by R_KamideesI'll keep this short and sweet 'cause I'm hepped op on caffine and goofballs. I got some things that I wanna share to the people who are getting sick of the same ol' "in-out, in-out" as my friend Alex would say.
Here are some recommendations:
*If you like Roxy Music, then you'll like Orange Juice
*If you like Imogen Heap or Liz Durrett, then you'll like My Brightest Diamond
*If you like The Fire Theft, then you'll like Jeremy Enigk's solo stuff from the "United States of Leland" score.
*If you like Savath and Savalas you'll like Balún
That's it. Check these artists out and tell me I'm wrong. I can't sit still any longer.
