Originally known as Spanish Fly, the band formed in Lismore in 1990, performing regularly across the north coast as a six piece. In 1993 the band moved to Sydney, lost two members and changed their name to Bainmaries.

Bainmaries were: Maxine Whelan - vocalist Ken Maeda - Bass, vocals John Cass - Guitars, vocals Simon Sneesby - Drums, vocals
