Once upon a time a desperate down on their luck band decided to record the absolute best record they could to reclaim their previous fame (No Matter What/Day Afer Day/Without You.) They produced this masterpiece power pop album with many possible hits which garnered great reviews and climbed the charts. Then the unspeakable happened, their label found money missing from the band's escrow account (due to their crooked manager) and physically removed the album from store shelves. The album tanked, obviously. The band recorded a bitter followup album which the label refused to release and so they broke up and went into odd jobs (like carpet laying) and a year later the lead songwriter hung himself, damning their manager in his suicide note. Ten years later his co-writer for Without You hung himself as well. This album could have changed all that, and it is a continuing crime it (and the followup Head First) wasn't placed on CD until just recently. Give it a listen.
