Biography
All Baby Giraffe albums can be listened (and most of the time, downloaded) for free at http://ohbabygiraffe.com
Baby Giraffe is the output of 25 year old Michael Newton. Self recorded and produced in his bedroom in Toronto, Ontario Canada.
A former member of Toronto band’s The Diableros, The Smear Campaign and Sons of Brixton, Michael has been recording and self-releasing albums as ‘baby giraffe’ since early 2005.
Often heavily produced, never the less, naked home recordings. Fret scratching, feedback and technically wrong vocal takes that just happened to feel right have all been left as part of the song. For, it is, what makes the song a song.
Here’s Your Horizon is the fifth completed Baby Giraffe album. Clocking in at just over 30 minutes, Michael has constructed songs that favor sparse electronic tinged drumming, hand percussion, reverb soaked guitars, midi-controlled string sections and often whisper soft vocals.
Not happy, not ‘look at me’ sad, Here’s Your Horizon is the soundtrack to being in your mid-twenties, unemployed, medicated and very very very fond of evenings in with a few bottles of blush wine.
For a generation that would rather sit in and create alone, rather go out and destroy en masse.
