British Electric Foundation (B.E.F.) was formed by Martyn Ware and Ian Marsh when they left the Human League. Groove Thang was released on the 1980 instrumental collection “Music for Stowaways” available on cassette only.

The track included mixed down vocals from Glenn Gregory, who would later join Ware and Marsh in Heaven 17. The track was re-recorded as “(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang” which took Heaven 17 to #45 in the UK charts despite being banned by the BBC.
