Biography

Toronto, Ontario, Canada (2003 – present)

A singer/songwriter from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Jennifer Parkin has become a true icon on the music scene with her unique writing and performing style. In 2003, she began her project Ayria and shook the foundation of the scene by mixing striking feminine visuals, straight old-school industrial music with harsher, aggressive electro while still maintaining elements of electro-clash and 80’s new wave.

Ayria has been intensively and successfully touring across the globe over the past 3 years gaining a very solid reputation for putting on energetic live performances. Ayria toured the U.S.A as the chosen supporting act for legendary electronic-goth band The Crüxshadows (over 80 shows) and supported Combichrist. Ayria has also toured U.K., Europe, Russia, Mexico and Japan. Not fitting into any one musical category has allowed Ayria to gain a very broad fan base of underground goth, various underground club scenes as well as more mainstream audiences who are all addicted to Ayria’s infectious hooks.

Ayria has released three full length albums on the Belgian label [labelAlfa Matrix, including the highly acclaimed Hearts for Bullets released in September 2008. This release brings 12 hard hitting, tightly written and produced tracks each track uniquely evolving the Ayria sound. [album artist=ayria]Hearts For Bullets was produced in Canada by none other than Sebastian R. Komor.

Hearts for Bullets still wins for me as well. Missed the Mark and Games are my favorites from Plastic Makes Perfect.

I think Hearts for Bullets still wins out for me as favorite album, but PMP is really good. I love me some Friends and Enemies. Also I know Hunger has been out for a while, but it's such a great track.. the vocal composition reminds me of the Debris days. And yes. Big Plans ftw as well.

The new album is really awesome, lots of great tracks that all offer their own unique flavor, nice lyrics too, and as a bonus the album actually flows really well as far as feeling like a true album progression wise. While there are some really classic Ayria songs on past albums, as far as an album as a whole this one might just be her best. Highlights include such gems as big plans, but really all the songs from friends and enemies through letter from an angel is actually quite a good series of songs making for a strong closing to a really epic album. As always what makes Ayria stand out so much is not only do the beats catch your body, but she is also able to catch your mind as she is able to express her emotions in a way that forms a real connection to the listener. Thank you for the great album.

I definitely like the prior album more but this album is still good. I do not see one 5/5 star song on this album where I would give 4 or 5 songs from the last album that rating. However I did enjoy Big Plans, Big City Lullaby and Letter From An Angel. Letter From An Angel almost had a Final Fantasy video game vibe too it (all those songs deserve 4/5 (great song rating for me)).

Yeah... Alfa Matrix seems to really like remixes. I suppose it's a good excuse to charge more for an album, though. I mostly get their deluxe editions for collection purposes, but they do occasionally have extra songs or whatever.

Why so many ridiculous remixes... I listened to all of disc 3 and nothing amazing there.
