After the underground 2007 classic Only Death Can Kill You, emcee Awol and producer Factor are releasing their latest LP, Owl Hours. A self-professed party album, the instrumentals on Owl Hours move from electronic pop to folk hop with a number of live musicians contributing their talents. Guest vocalists on their latest effort include Aesop Rock, Myka 9, Tha Alkaholiks and executive producer Xzibit.

  • to be clear, i didnt mean they were used as gimmick to sell records, i just didnt see the cohesion and didnt see them meld into the album like the guest emcees on Only Death. the styles among the guests seemed too contradictory within each song so in that way it seemed gimmicky. but you're right, it was a HUGE change from the first album. Only Death was downtempo, gloomy, concept album masterpiece imo, and probably impossible to follow, which is maybe why awol and factor decided to take the route they did
