Autumn Cathedral started in 1986 in the San Francisco bay area, founded by Clay Kenyon (vocals/keyboards), Scott Martinez (bass/backing vocals) and Elyssa Pon (guitars). Mark Baldwin (drums) was added shortly thereafter, and recording and gigging began in earnest. Robert Mowry Riddle IV (keyboards) joined in 1988 (of NADA) and recording began shortly thereafter on Autumn Cathedral’s first and only album, “Asleep Within Waves”. The album on Vinyl, Cassette and CD was released in 1989, and was supported by a tour of the western United States. Considerable national airplay and excellent reviews were received: For example, Metro San Jose, voted top 9th album alongside such artists as Faith No More, Motley Crue, Aerosmith and Soundgarden. Drummer Mark Baldwin died in 1997. SPECIAL BULLETIN: The album “Amythyst Figurine” was intended to be released in 1991; it has been posted here in Nov. 2007 for the first time. These tracks are ALL NEW for Autumn Cathedral fans and have never been heard unless you saw a live show in the early ‘90’s! Autumn Cathedral disbanded in 1992 due to problems with their label. The only member currently involved in music today is Scott Martinez, who founded Alice Sweet Alice in 2007.
