    the bouncing ball effect isn't 'invented' by anyone really. saying autechre were inspired by aphex twin with this effect is like saying autechre was inspired by aphex twin using reverb on 'amber'. it's just such a common effect. out of competition i would like to mention "pencha" from cichli suite ('97, before lp5) that had this. but seriously, this is not an invention to battle about.

    doesn't matter, point is ae were experimenting with this kind of thing ages ago, and were probably working on Drane2 (LP5 came out in early 98) before they even heard Buchephalus

    @oiseaux777 I see Drane2 listed as a 1998 release, after Bucephalus in 1997.

    @micahnewman Ae did the "bouncing ball" effect on Drane2 (LP5) first in 1997, so unfortunately not!

    The version I have has a bit of a codec bug-out at 6:25-ish, but it kind of fits the song.

    @1:59 - ! That was a surprise... thought the whole thing was going to be just percussive ball-bearing sounds (which would have been fine). [2]

    Surprised no one has mentioned "Bucephalus Bouncing Ball," which I am only now hearing for the first time. Hard to say that wasn't an influence on this.
