Autechre is an English music group consisting of Rob Brown and Sean Booth, both natives of Rochdale (in Greater Manchester, England). They are one of the most prominent acts signed with Warp Records, a label known for its pioneering electronic artists.

  • Ae is about details and sound design to me. So I'd choose Confield over Tri Repetae any time. I've never been much of a fan of Amber / Tri Repetae / Chiastic Slide era. While Tri Repetae is the most interesting and consistent of those three I find it outdated in a non-pleasant way (I like the outdated sound of Incunabula though so I actually like that LP as a whole piece). Another reason why I don't enjoy these LPs much is because I don't feel Ae are strong enough when it comes to firmer compositions. That's why I don't particularly enjoy Oversteps. But it's not like I hate these albums. There are good tracks on them too and I do listen to them once in a while. I just prefer their more abstract and sound-focused approach (Exai, Quaristice, Untilted, Draft 7.30, Confield, even LP5). With their EPs it's a little bit different because for some reason when they do more compositional stuff for this shorter format it tends to be much better so I prefer their earlier EPs to their earlier LPs.
  • Whoever likes Confield better than Tri Repetae is probably also a member of those self-indulgent circles that lie to themselves Schoenberg's body of work is not only as valuable as Arvo Pärt's left foot (when he isn't composing), but an essential piece of the human condition. xD xD My advice to fellow Autechre fans - don't get lost in details and miss the greater picture. As in hyperrealism in post-modern art, any effort, regardless of its magnitude, is futile when there is nothing worth fostering.
  • Ok... ? Thank you for the description.
  • @NVespertine @HeadShoteR wiki: AE_LIVE is a live album by British electronica duo Autechre. AE_LIVE is by far the duo's longest release, at launch lasting over 259 minutes, with the extra tracks added on 8 December 2015 pushing the length to nearly 560 minutes.
  • I'm sure they will. They always do.
  • I kinda want a new album tho. Hopefully they will really do some extra-dimensional forward thinking stuff.
  • Yeah, why are you discussing bands like Confield, Sim Gishel or Gantz Graf here? It's the Autechre shoutbox ffs!
  • Coz is cancerous now.
  • Why are you guys talking about artists that are not Autechre on the Autechre page?
  • Confield > Confield [2]
