Ataturk Band is a Finnish folkduo that combines Anatolian RiotBlues, funk, tango and even dance music in their songs.
The duo started out as a streetplaying experiment, but they won the National Championship of Multicultural Streetplaying in 2007. Touko Hujanen plays baglama saz and Jantso Jokelin the harmonica.
They bring together musical mythologies from different parts of the world and combine them into extatic, trancendental, chaotic, bluesy instrumentals. This duo is abusing the blues like there is no tomorrow!
The duo lists as their sources of inspiration Orhan Gencebay, Robert Johnson, Daft Punk, P-Funk and Mesopotamian Gods among others.
Their first composition was "Anatolia Beat".
