About this album

Guitarist Anders Björler commented that he couldn’t “remember much” from the recording sessions for Terminal Spirit Disease. When compared to At the Gates’ older material, Björler felt the tracks “were simpler and more to the point”. A violin and cello are featured on the song “And the World Returned” and “The Swarm”, cited as an example of the group’s attempt to explore “ideas which were a little different”.

The only bad thing about this album is that it is too short. [2] Exactly what I was about to say. This is their best material, it only looses out to SOTS in my books because it's much shorter.

The only bad thing about this album is that it is too short. If we took out the instrumental track and the 3 live bonus, only we would have 5 songs. Highlights: "Terminal Spirit Disease", "Forever Blind" & "The Beautiful Wound".

The six songs on this are amazing but I never understood how this was released as an LP despite the rest as being live tracks.

Don't know about the live tracks here, but At The Gates are AMAZING live, seen their last concert at Wacken Open Air 2008! :P

"Well, destroying SotS in terms of songwriting isn't really hard" The songwriting was just as strong on SOTS in my opinion.

I think they should re-record this one adding new songs... as sodom did on The Final Sign Of Evil

I prefer this album to SotS because most of the songs sound alike. Terminal Spirit Disease actually had a bit of variety.

I dunno why everyone hates SOTS so much. imo it beats this album hands down purely cos this just doesn't feel like an album - 22 minutes long >_< I've heard EPs MUCH longer than this! But its 22 minutes of great music, dont get me wrong, and if they'd made another 20 minutes of this quality stuff I'd say it'd be miles better than SOTS, just as it is I cant say its a better album cos it just doesn't feel like one. Other than being far too short, it's damn good melodeath \m/

For me this was the first album where the whole Gothenberg style coalesced. There had been other records before this which hinted at it, but they were all rough and lacked the confidence to shamelessly delve into the three essential aspects of the sound : dark, melodic and catchy.
