Asha Bhosle (born in the indian state of Maharashtra, city Sangli on 8th September 1933) is best known as a ‘playback’ singer, having provided the female singing voice for around 1000 bollywood movies. Her talent was celebrated on the single “Brimful of Asha”, recorded by Cornershop and later remixed by Fatboy Slim. Asha is the sister of the legendary Bollywood singer, Lata Mangeshkar. She is also a fine classical Indian singer, having worked with masters such as Ali Akbar Khan. Asha has also teamed up with western artists such as REM’s Michael Stipe and Kronos Quartet to produce wonderous music. She is a legend.
