Minneapolis born and Louisiana raised, Asa sprouted his musical roots early listening to legends like Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross. By the time Asa was 19 he was offered a recording deal from MCA Records (which he turned down).
“Music has always been in me.”, the comedian/writer replies. “I’ve always felt that the heart of hip hop was expression in the most sincere form. It’s not much different than Poetry… it’s heart music!”
