Minneapolis born and Louisiana raised, Asa sprouted his musical roots early listening to legends like Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross. By the time Asa was 19 he was offered a recording deal from MCA Records (which he turned down).
“Music has always been in me.”, the comedian/writer replies. “I’ve always felt that the heart of hip hop was expression in the most sincere form. It’s not much different than Poetry… it’s heart music!”
Asa can be found performing in comedy sketches on his youtube.com/asathecomic account. When asked about his critics Asa responds, “I’ve had haters since Pre-Kindergarten… I’m just trying to provide for my family and anyone who can’t understand that can’t really understand much anyway…lol!”
