It is so easy to tell that each string of notes played in many of Arvo's songs either represent people or emotions, whether conflicting or unified. The way the cello interacts with the piano here is just so real. Especially towards the end when they get on the same level. They've been hovering around each other, then they meet and say the same things to each other.

this music makes me want to walk into a butcher shop and gently caress every slab of meat with lightly scented oils and decorate the hooks with pictures of my youth

listening to this music is so powerful that I can't hear it again for months. I fear losing it's brilliance as the dust falls away from a butterflies wings through rough handling.

He has many beautiful compositions but this one stands out particularly to me as lasting, timeless.
