  • Amazing Trance/Electro Tracks (work in progress)

    24 Dec 2009, 07:35 by Tylerk27

Here is my list of tracks for sets and listening pleasure that I felt compelled to write into my notebook... I felt like I might do some good by listing them here as well! Please do note that there's no particular order to this and it's not listed by favorites.. just random. If you can't listen to them through Last.fm then you should be able to through YouTube, just search it. This is a work in progress since I'm constantly finding new songs that catch my ear... if you have any suggestions please let me know!

(Also at the bottom I included noteworthy albums... so if a great track wasn't listed here it might be because I've included it in one of the albums...)

    Enjoy!

  • 'Oh no, we're not mainstream'

    13 Sep 2008, 12:37 by Lajni

Cradle of Filth, every-one knows it, and every-one bashes it, for what.. obviously they're not black metal, that warrants a bash. It adds up, Bush isn't black metal and he's bashed too... all right, bad example, but Cradle if associated with it right? Even though they never claimed to be black metal and recently publicly have stated that they aren't, and that ninety per cent of their fans nowadays are well aware of that they aren't black metal.. but even so... uncle true will continue his invasion of Cradlestan and bash it for... not being black metal.

On the other hand of the spectrum we have this little NWOBHM band called Venom, if this is black metal, than so is Iron Maiden, so they made an album called 'black metal and coined the name, they still aren't and every-one being shown the music without a name attached to it who's into black metal will respond with that it isn't black metal. But black metal apparently isn't a musical stylism, but an ideological one.. …

  • Top 10 Trance Tags

    18 Jan 2007, 08:34 by kofrad

While browsing through the tags area of the site, I decided it would make for a good journal entry to share my opinions on the top ten tracks tagged with .

    10. Traffic
Very nice and energetic. The track starts off slow and builds it up, then takes it right back down again and comes back harder than before. Good track, tore up the Hard Rock! Live when I saw Tiesto play there about a year ago.

    9. As the Rush Comes (Exclusive Demo mix)
A wonderful example of uplifting trance. The melody is very relaxing and soothing. Vocals are also very calm, but powerful. The breakdown is beautiful and really gets you into the music as it builds up again.

    8. Airwave (Rank 1 Vs Dutch Force Mix)
A classic. Everyone into trance has probably heard this song. This is one of my all time favorites though. Powerful and driving bass along with simply one of the most euphoric melodies I have heard. The best way for me to describe this track is euphoric and uplifitng.

    7. Flaming June
  • Best of 2006

    3 Jan 2007, 01:28 by sharevari

There's no denying that this has been an italo disco year. I discovered the Cybernetic Broadcasting System (CBS) and its annual Top 100 at the tail end of 2005 as it was broadcasted, and it triggered a period of italo and general 80s rediscovery that has lasted pretty much all year. So therefore, an unproportionally large portion of the Top 50 below is CBS- and italo-related.

I'd like to apologise in advance for my inability to express the genius of the music, I find it incredibly hard to come up with language that describes the feeling you get when listening to a tune, but I still felt comments are needed because lists without commentary are dead dull to read.

Also, I should point out that the list below contains my favourites out of the music I discovered in 2006 rather than music that was released in 2006.

I made a tag radio station with all streamable entries from the top 50. Listen here.

  • Two Tribes 2006

    6 Mar 2006, 17:31 by Lawnmower3000

Two tribes this year had been staged in the supreme court gardens in Perth. The venue was good but the weather was FAR TOO HOT for my liking. 37C! Some of you may be thinking, that not that bad. Well combine 37C, a tent with poor ventilation and a crowd that want to dance. Please event organisers, but a vent in the top of the roof to let the heat (along with the sweat) out of the tent. I was just waiting to see some girl being drag out due to overheating.
The heat really disrupted my whole trance experience. I had a choices, trance or not boiling to death. It was a hard choice at times, especially during Schulz and AvB. But about 3:30pm the see breeze came in and that did elevate the problem slightly.

But anyway, back to the music. The line up for the Godskitchen tent was perfect. Every artist I wanted to see. On the downside that didn't give me much chance to visit the other tent except during when I was refilling my water bottles. …
