There are at least six artists that go by the name Arabesque.
1) A German disco group,
2) A hip hop artist from Toronto, Ontario
3) A Dutch prog-metal band
4) A Siesta Records indie pop band lead by Keith Girdler and Paul Stewart, former members of Sarah Records band Blueboy (changing into Beaumont),
5) A traditional arabian group.
6) 1970s Progressive Rock band from Pittsburgh, PA

1) Arabesque was a famous German disco music group formed in 1977, consisting of Sandra Cretu (joined the group in 1979), Jasmin Vetter, and Michaela Rose. After a split in 1984 Jasmin Vetter and Michaela Rose continued as the group “Rouge”, while Sandra Cretu started her career in the group Sandra with Michael Cretu.

Arabesque was popular in Japan, selling more than 6 million albums there. They also had success in the USSR. In 1980 the single “Take Me Don’t Break Me” became a hit, which only scraped the German Top 40. Their next single, “Marigot Bay”, would become their single Top Ten hit a few weeks later. Their last singles “Ecstasy” and “Time to Say Goodbye”, turned hits after their split, on various central, south and east European countries, because they sounded very close to the “Italo-disco” sound, a very popular music genre of the European Discotheques at that time.

@Runoflife Sandra has plenty of talent. Look at her solo work and Enigma.

Progressiv Arabesque is good. Disco should be forever forgotten - the starting point of hot chicks with no talent.

If you say so. :) The line is not recognized on the cover. Jasmin Vetter looks *evil* on every photo, like an angry school teacher.

The lyric is "Hold the line" not "Auto line"

I didn't know any of their recordings, except the few most popular ones until now, nor that the band was related to Sandra. Until I got a casette with Why No Reply about two years ago. Now I find that the music is very much in tune with who I am. Lots of unknown tracks from the 1980s, which were never formally announced on the radio. These lines apply to may situations in life: "Why no reply? Why don't you let me be close to you?" "Auto line. Auto line." "Over and over I'm trying..." Auto line.

although nearly every song they ever did was as catchy as fuck, their sixth album "caballero" from 1982 really hits the mark unlike any other. it's just perfect pop song after perfect pop song. i don't think they ever topped it.
