“Lollipop (Candyman)” is the sixth single to be released by the Scandinavian dance-pop group Aqua overall, and the follow-up to their most successful song “Barbie Girl” in many countries. Included on their debut album Aquarium, “Lollipop (Candyman)” is said to be one of the group’s favorite songs, although it was not released in the United Kingdom and failed to live up to the previous performances of “Barbie Girl”, “’PlayDoctor Jones” and “PlayMy Oh My”.

Lollipop featured a prominent role for René Dif, with vocals also from main vocalist Lene. The CD single was released in various different forms, many containing only the short name of the track, and not the full name with the bracketised ‘Candyman’ at the end. The video features the group in space, much like in the later “PlayCartoon Heroes”, and includes a fight against aliens and a small robot saving the day.

“Lollipop (Candyman)” was the group’s second release in the United States, and became their second top forty song there, peaking at #23. The U.S. release featured “PlayGood Morning Sunshine” as the second track on the CD single and cassette.

The character Candyman from Bountyland in the lyrics is later referenced at in “PlayHalloween”, a song from Aqua’s second album Aquarius.
