After discovering techniques to make truly strange sounds, the search for experimental music led to the creation of long and rhythm-less material, which will be released in a further point in time (as EPs or other) with a little notice to indicate whether it’s a primary release or a secondary one (primary releases are more ‘traditionally’ composed music like the first album with industrial rhythms, composition, etc).
Aside from one huge inspiration source that started it all, there is no special philosophy regarding Apoteg’s music. While it is meant to be as dark and strange as possible, it’s primarily made as a work of fiction using his own fantasy to create soundscapes and emotions, but honestly, it is not an outlet to any inner conflict or belief.
The inspiration source is both the fascination of the genre and a fictional devilish being who appears at the climax of the SNES videogame called EarthBound.
Giygas is a creature… or much rather an entity. Imagine a creature whose immense evil power was so great that it shattered his whole being, mind and soul into a gassy blood-red embodied emotion of hellish evil in an infinite void of blackness. The thing that makes Giygas even more special in the game was the accompanying music themes. It ranged from pure drone, to pure experimental, to pure noise. If you wish to see Giygas, either look around at the background of Apoteg’s myspace-page or Google him and see the images. You’ll like it.
