Apogee & Perigee

Apogee and Perigee (アポジー & ペリジー) are two robots that appeared in a series of Japanese TV commercials for Mild Nikka whisky and the album “Chojiku Korodasutan Ryokoki” tells their story in song (apparently). A strange and rare collaborative story project created by Testpattern. Jun Togawa definitely sings for one of the robots, though I do not see her credited and was told that was part of the concept. Tracks are written by Miharu Koshi (who probably also sings), Haruomi Hosono, Ueno and Testpattern and others.

The songs are very catchy and the arrangements are superb (just look who is involved!)

The information above is more or less copied and pasted from the wonderful website of Mr. Nicholas D. Kent. Check it out for all the info you’ll ever need about japanese electronica!

プロフェッサー・パーセク sounds so similar to Honneamise no tsubasa's hymn... especially those "aaah aaah" chants. I love it! Ueno at his best.

It's sad how Wall-E totally ripped this off and no one will know. Two little robots who love each other going on in adventures in space. They even look like Wall-E. Sigh.
