The first album was not even intended to be ambient music; it was mainly a joke at the expense of music reviewers. It's more like acid dub. SAWII is genuinely ambient, though, yes.

Reprising my comment on disc 1, SAW 85-92 is a great album and I enjoy listening to it, but I think SAW II is much closer to truly "ambient" music. Very organic sounding. Reminds me a bit of Biosphere.

easily my favourite album ever. nothing comes close to it, I've listened to a lot of ambient music but nothing feels like this one, both discs are just so good.

You can't put this album into words. The only album I ever bought where the person behind the counter said "Excellent album". Truly remarkable, the best ambient music I've ever found.

This album is frightenly immaculate, everything is flawless, the sounds, the progression, the production, I find it very hard to believe that this album was released almost 15 years ago, yet it's a fact.. What kind of weird alien technology did Richard have in his possession when he created this otherworldly masterpiece?
