Annika is a singer-songwriter who originally comes from Berlin, Germany, but moved to Heidelberg several years ago. She began composing from a very early age on, creating her own melodies and later on also her own lyrics. Although she was raised in Germany, Annika also travelled a lot transcending all kind of borders. As a child and teenager she often went to England and France, thus becoming familiar with both languages as well as with both countries’ cultures. Listening mainly to English music in the beginning, it may not be surprising that her first lyrics were mostly in English. However, she also always wanted to write in French. Although in 1995 there were first attempts to do so, the actual motivation came only 10 years later while discovering new French music. By now she writes in English and French regularly and recently also took up writing in German, thus expanding her songwriting universe even further. Regarding first experience on stage, she started performing at school and later also during her time at university, taking the chance to play at numerous Open Mic Nights and some festivals. In 2002 she founded the folk-duo Orange Sound Tree together with a cellist, which split up however in 2006. During the same year Annika started a new initiative to revive the group, this time together with a double bassist and an accordionist. Only a little later the musicians went their own ways, seeking other musical challenges. Annika has been active as a solo artist ever since, performing by herself as well as with other musicians. For instance, in 2007, together with a new group consisting of an accordionist and a percussionist, she performed during the festival Heidelberger Herbst. In 2006 and 2007 she also played three concerts together with French musician Elsa Siugo both in Paris and in the Mannheim-Heidelberg region. During the same years, 2006 together with Orange Sound Tree, 2007 as a solo artist, she performed during the French Week, which takes place each November in Heidelberg. -In 2009 she finally recorded her first album Fabulous Sceneries (available shortly) on which she introduces 12 songs in English and French which she wrote over the past years. The album was recorded and produced by Amin Jan Sayed at syemusic studio in Viernheim. A special focus lies on the simple arrangements of the songs, concentrating on Annika’s fine voice accompanied by acoustic guitar, e-bass, slide-guitar, cello, glockenspiel and accordion. In her songs she creates a warm and unique sound, maybe best described as orange. Fabulous Sceneries is Annika’s personal treasure-box as well as her personal journey through time and different places. The lyrics are poetic yet natural, partly colourful, partly observing, partly melancholic, telling strories inspired by Annika’s personal experiences as well as movies (Amelie) and other musicians. The listeners are taken on a journey through fabulous sceneries created by Annika’s imagination. During their journey they will find sunflower fields, stardust, dreams, love waltzes, rain words, deserted beaches in autumn as well as gentle moments of love. +In 2009 she finally recorded her first album Fabulous Sceneries on which she introduces 12 songs in English and French which she wrote over the past years.
