Animal Law is what happens when five guys who primarily operate within the experimental, noise, and avant-garde rock scenes (Blake Edwards of Vertonen, ssseepage, Burrow, Series Founders, Crippled Insectual; Geoff Guy of Sexual Freedom, Gary Glitter Hard Drive, ex-Gays in the Military; Dylan Posa of Three Cheers For One Dead Man, ex-Cheer Accident, ex-The Flying Luttenbachers, ex-Bobby Conn; Jason Soliday of I Love Presets, Coeurl, Gunshop, Mora, Behold! The Living Corpse; and Mark Solotroff of BLOODYMINDED… , The Fortieth Day, Super Eight Loop, A Vague Disquiet, ex-Intrinsic Action), combine forces to play some form of laboriously slow, heavy metal dirge. While the band may cringe at the use of comparisons, references have already been made to (early) Swans, Khanate, Bauhaus, Harvey Milk, Joy Division, The Goslings, My Bloody Valentine, Flipper, Saccharine Trust, Einsturzende Neubauten, etc. On top of that, most of their compositions are purportedly love songs.

In case you have not heard the recordings from our WHPK session from May 16, 2008, the tracks are still up on our Last.fm page: http://www.last.fm/music/Animal+Law In fact, the online zine, Gradations of Morbity just listed these recordings as a staff pick: http://www.gradationsofmorbidity.com/ For those who have not heard any news from us in a while, 3/5 of Animal Law (Blake Edwards, Dylan Posa, and Mark Solotroff) have been continuing on in a similar direction -- still without a name (but not for long!) -- and with a new bassist (Kenny Rasmussen, ex-No Funeral) and a new guitarist (Greg Ratajczak of Plague Bringer). We have been ensconced in Plague Bringer's practice space, all winter, working on completely new material, and preparing to make our live debut by mid-2009.
