this album is a jam fuck the haters [4] Seriously, songs like Applesauce, Wide Eyed and Amanita are fucking beautiful.

@WS9167 No, he seems to be implying that AnCo made CHz specifically to alienate MPP fans, the same way Pavement (allegedly) made Wowee Zowee to alienate Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain fans.

@macostarz: are you trying to imply that Wowee Zowee was anything but great?

I like at least a few cuts off all their records from Spirit They've Gone up through MPP, but this one is kinda bleh... I don't think AnCo is down for the count though, in experimental music inevitably some experiments will be failures.

A self-consciously flawed attempt to crush any career expectations? In a certain light, it's hard not to compare it to the equivalent of Pavement circa Wowee Zowee—same career trajectory, just one generation of indie music later

if you're in the right mood, this feels like less of an overproduced mess and more of a psychedelic pop sound collage type of thing. I'm in the right mood right now I guess. I'm liking it way more than even before.

maybe it really gets better with each listen, but I can't force myself to relisten this, ever. maybe unless i'll be in a masochistic mood or anything like that. ugh.

Gets better and better with each listen! It's just as accessible as MPP (not that that's a bad thing at all), but a lot more crazy and psychedelic like their older stuff!

I think I would put it ahead of Danse and Campfire Songs though.

HCTI, Strawberry Jam, MPP, Sung Tongs, Feels are all CLEARLY superior to this album.

I don't hate this album, but it is seriously a disappointment compared to their other work. If you can't see that you're blind to the AnCo vibes I vibe.

At first listen, I thought this album was too dense, if it was simpler, it would be great. Listening to it more times, the "overproduction" feel disappears, and it is simply great.
