I had the privilege of seeing Angela and the Beguilers perform this album in its entirety, days before its scheduled release date. I knew instantly it was going to be a special album. While "Maria, My Friend" may have been the track that got her selected as a Telluride Troubadour Competition finalist, "Manifest Destiny" is the album's standout track. Like BlackTop Road before it, the song was inspired by her family's struggle with losing parts of their farm to commercial development. Interestingly, Angela compares the modern land struggle, with that the Cherokee faced in the 18th century. Guitarist Brandon Turner contributes the terrific lead track, "The Fish & The Bird", and also duets with Angela on "Never Got That Far". While retaining an overall Americana feel, you'll find elements of pop, rock, country and gospel mixed throughout "Beguiler". With one great song after another, you will no doubt be listening to it over and over again.
