“I’m a dad, husband, musician, motorcycle & car freak, skateboarder, etc”.

Andrew McKeag plays guitar for the “Presidents Of The United States of America” and book bands for a club in Seattle called The Tractor Tavern.

He started playing guitar at the age of 12 after first trying both piano & trumpet. He didn’t really get rolling ‘til he moved to San Diego in 1988.

Andrew played with lots of local bands. He eventually wound-up in a band with Walter & Tim from San Diego’s Pull Toys and a great singer named Sioban. This band became known as “Liquid Sunshine”. They played with lots of local and touring bands. Once opening for The Smashing Pumpkins at the old Casbah, among others.

That band folded in 1992 and Andrew started a band called “Uncle Joe’s Big Ol’ Driver” with Dave Jass. They made two records for Cargo/Headhunter, toured a bunch & had a ball. UJBOD broke up in 1995. Just after they all moved to Seattle.

Andrew then got a solo deal with MCA for his new band “Shuggie”, made a record for them that ended up coming out on Cargo Records in 1998. Following a change of line-up they made another record in 2002. Shuggie eased-out of everyday rock action in 2003.

During all this time Andrew played guitar off & on with a great local band called “Huge Spacebird” and had an on again/off again cover band full of Seattle rock folks called “70 Proof”. All 70’s hard rock covers. Wigs, mustaches, bell bottoms - the works.
