Anathema have always been excellent at bookending their albums. (Well, with the exception of "A Fine Day To Exit". The opening track is awful.) Ascension pretty much does what it's title suggests. After experiencing the mud and misery of Eternity, we get an uplifting outro. Maybe their is a glimmer of hope in this world of sh*t.

Just one of many masterpieces by this band. What really makes this song for me is the long piece of guitar feedback that starts at about 0:40 and is allowed to run for almost half a minute .... It sounds amazing!
