Andrés Campuzano: Instrumentals, Production, Lyrics
Macarena Martín: Vocals
An Danzza was born in 2004 as a solitary project of Andres Campuzano in order to give expression to all his musical interests. The origin of the name comes from the name of its founder ‘An’ and the Spanish word for dance (danza), as music of old was composed mainly for dancing. The double ‘z’ is an ornament and also a wink to his two surnames (yes, in Spain we use two surnames, our mothers are very important for us). Joined together Andanzza also sounds like the word ‘quest’ in Spanish.
The originality of their music style is that they fall back to “old” instruments combined with symphonic sounds to create a deep and mystical atmosphere and inspired by ancient cultures, especially Celtic and Renaissance period, nature, legends, emotive romances, epic and symphonic themes that seem taken from a film soundtrack, chants for heroes fallen long ago, hymns to nature performed by beautiful voices escorted by traditional instruments whose composition has been assisted by new computer technologies.
The music envelops us in a magical world and invites us to dream of an eternal place with old melodies that sound full of passion again. With his music it is easy to let yourself go and travel through centuries, go back to an age where jesters took their poems from towns and villages to the king’s court, where fights had no quarter, a time where in spite of injustice and cruelty there was life and hope in peoples heart. If you want to drink and dance with him, rise your horn full of ale to a sky full of stars, feel the overwhelming heat of a battle we will bring you back those distant echoes of the minstrel songs.
