Biography

AMY BLUE are a British indie rock band that languish somewhere in the area between 65daysofstatic, Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth and The Smashing Pumpkins.

Originally formed by Simon Chatterton (whose side-project evol-i still releases material) and JP Rutter as an electronic project, Amy Blue began to explore darker and louder territories with the addition of bassist Danny Legg and skilled jazz musician Lex Sampson on drums, using drones, feedback and multiple layers of guitars to create their fuzzy noise pop. Legg left the band in 2008, replaced by Trev Hatton (ex of Lunar Jet Man).

They've supported great bands such as 4 or 5 Magicians, Winnebago Deal, Popular Workshop, The Sailplanes, Screaming Tea Party, Das Wanderlust and The Early Years over the years.

The band hibernated to work on their first full length debut album, The Fortress and The Fatalist, released August 2009 via CD, Itunes and ltd edition cassette. The album received very positive press from the likes of God Is In The TV, Bearded and The 405 and the band played a high profile and eventful set at the Our Band Could BBQ Your Life festival with tracks from the record receiving rotation on BBC 6 Music.

The band will be releasing a brand new EP called 'On The Pleasure of Hating' in March 2011, shortly followed by a new full-length album in the summer.
