Amoral was established by Ben Varon, Juhana Karlsson and Silver Ots in 2000 in Helsinki, Finland.
Their first vocalist was Matti Pitkänen, who was quickly replaced by Niko Kalliojärvi. Former band members also include Ville Sorvali from Moonsorrow on bass. For some time before Sorvali joined Amoral, the band was without bass player, and Ots played bass on some of their demos. Amoral released two demos, Desolation and Other Flesh, with varying line-ups, and played some minor gigs before releasing their first full-length album. Amoral signed with Rage of Achilles Records and released their first album, Wound Creations, in 2004.

The band’s production can be classified as technical, progressive and melodic metal, combined with rock elements. Amoral’s sound is heavy riff driven yet still has a melodic power groove. Skillful ensemble and crisp performance has characterized Amoral, which is internationally recognized as one of Finland’s foremost bands. The brave and independent development of their music can be heard throughout their four albums.

Soon after the 2005 European tour, Amoral returned to the studio to record their second album, Decrowning. The album was released in Finland and several other countries in October 2005 and in Japan and the United States in March 2006. Amoral’s third album was first announced on their website in early July 2006. The album was recorded in Studio Sound Supreme in Hämeenlinna in early 2007, and it was released in August 2007.

I can only agree with that. Every one is allowed to like/hate what he wants in music. The thing is that for some, a amazing band starts being a "Piece of shit" after they evolved to another music style. And that's insane. You don't like them anymore ? Fair enough, but that doesn't mean they're not talented at what they're doing now. When I read "They should've disbanded after ..", I just question the open-mindedness of some.

It's nothing to do with being closed minded, it's personal taste and preference. I personally don't like their new material because to vocals grind on me.

I am always amazed by the mind closure of some metal fans .. Some of you have even less tolerance for some metal sub-genres that people not listening to metal at all .. My point is, sure their latest albums have nothing to do with the previous ones, but it's still pretty good to me, in another way. Actually, I discovered them this year for the opening of Dark Tranquility and I liked it.

"they should have disbanded after Reptile. " - pretty spot on. [3] Such a shame, because Reptile is a great album!

They used to be melodic tech death, now they're shitty generic power metal. [3] This is the reason why old fans are complaining. This change was too radical.

This last album resumed to one word: Fantastic!!! I Like Ari's vocals, he has one of the best vocals actually, and is improving. The other guys play like huge bands! Older fans stop to complaining

Their latest album is certainly a huge improvement in comparison to the 2 predecessors "Show your colors" and "Beneath". The guitar works are phenomenon, Ari vocal is less boyish (though still sounds pretty immature at certain times, but I can tolerate that) Also, it seems like a lot of people is citing Circus Maximus for reference, but I wonder if Amoral took influence from their fellow metallers Amorphis as well?

Six years ago I couldn't believe that Amoral would release an album like "Fallen Leaves...". A likely positive surprise of the year.

"Beneath" is probably the most boring album I have ever heard. Hopefully they'll return to their roots in the next album, although it's highly unlikely.

Particularly, I like Ari on the vocals, I never liked so much of guttural voices, and death vocals .. But the old Amoral was great too, of course. Do not offend me haha'
