Biography

(1968 – 1970, 1972 – present)

Amnesty came together for the first time in 1968. The group was an amalgamation of the vocal quartet know as ‘The Embers’ (J. Trotter, D. Malone, G. Burke, A. L. Cobb) and a three peice rhythm section by the name of ‘The Crimson Tide’. This group was made up of C. Williams on Guitar, J. ‘Red’ Massie on Bass and P. ‘Kirk’ Alexander playing Drums.

After two years of playing together the group parted company in 1970. However, in 1972, Williams, Massie and Alexander convinced the other members to rejoin, along with three new members. H. ‘Squalls’ Walker replaced G. Burke, J. ‘Gino’ Johnson took on Saxophone duties and R. Burns on Congas.

I just wanted to show my uncle's group some love. A.L. Cobbs is my uncle Axzandra Cobbs and he passed away on Aug 21, 2011(that tidbit is for who ever updates this blog about the artists) I am so happy to see other people love his music just as much as we (his family) do.keep listening

I've edited down and re-written the biography as one of the moderators had removed it for not being in the third person, or unbiased. Sheesh.

Yeah, the picture needs changed. Although, it's quite comical to envision the folk in that picture performing tracks like Mister President, Free Your Mind and Trouble Will Remain... Hah! I was going to alter the biography to detail the 70's group too.. but I don't know enough about their background, admittedly.

The drum track that Truth & Soul have added into their remix of Trouble Will Remain makes the track even better than it was. It's fantastic.
