Amerie Rogers, known professionally as Amerie, is an African-Korean American international R&B star. Amerie has released three albums. Her 2002 debut album “All I Have” was highly acclaimed by critics as was her 2nd album “Touch”. In 2005, Amerie burst back onto the music scene with her fourth single “1 Thing”, which was used as the theme song for the Will Smith movie “Hitch”.
“1 Thing” went to the top of the charts in various international markets, including the US, UK and most others around the world. It earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (the album “Touch” was also nominated for the “Best Contemporary R&B Album” Grammy ). The album sold an estimated 800,000 copies worldwide and went gold in the US and silver in the UK.
Her third album ‘Because I Love It’ was released in the UK , Europe and Asia. The single “Take Control” was released, and enjoyed international success. The second single “Gotta Work” did not fare as well in the charts, despite receiving heavy airplay on UK and European music video channels. The album has sold a combined total of 310,000 copies worldwide and is her most critically acclaimed album.
In late 2007, was reported that Amerie had left her label Columbia Records, and signed with the Island Def Jam Music Group, and is currently working on her next studio album, executively produced by Byran Michael Cox.

"All I Have" is a launch pad for the greater things Amerie would do. She became a much better singer, songwriter, and overall artist once she began taking a more direct hand in her sound. So, IMO, BILI is her watermark album, and "Touch" and IL&W solid entries into discography as well. AIH is what it is, a debut album that showed promise, but disappointing as a whole, I'm so glad that she proved her mettle rather quickly than later. Amerie rocks my socks.

What's wrong with you people?! Amerie's best album is certainly not her debut, All I Have. That is her worst album; none of the blazing, wild, fiery Amerie we've come to adore there. Nor is it Touch. Because I Love It! takes the cake, and the title says it all. At that point, Amerie bore every bit of her heart, or at least it felt like it. You could FEEL the emotional core of every song on that album. That album took you on a hyper-dynamic journey through all sorts of emotions and assertions: elation, rage, inspiration, confidence, despair, lust, and contentment. In Love & War runs a close second, but whoever thinks "The Flowers" should be a single has lost it. That song is a near-insipid obligatory track, especially juxtaposed with the majestic "Red Eye". C'mon people, let's get with it! Amerie's going in the right direction with her new music, & claiming her debut is her opus magnum belies that beautiful fact. [2]
