Alter Bridge is an American rock band formed by Brian Marshall (bassist), Scott Phillips (drummer), Mark Tremonti (guitarist) (ex-members of Creed) and Myles Kennedy (lead vocals, guitar, and formerly of The Mayfield Four). Alter Bridge released their debut album One Day Remains in 2004, with the first single

Open Your Eyes.

Alter Bridge prefers to think of themselves not as “Creed with a new singer”, but as an entirely new band. The name “Alter Bridge” comes from a bridge in Mark’s childhood.

Their studio album Blackbird, was released on October 9, 2007, with the single

Rise Today.

Alter Bridge resurrected the music-making portion of Creed. After that band’s dissolution in 2004, guitarist Mark Tremonti and drummer Scott Phillips tapped ousted bassist Brian Marshall for the new project. Ex-Mayfield Four frontman Myles Kennedy was soon on board as well. Alter Bridge made its Wind-Up debut in August 2004 with One Day Remains. Written largely by Tremonti, the record tried to lean more toward a hard rock/metal sound than the post-grunge grandstanding of his previous group.

Well, I have heard a lot of playing of Myles Kennedy...from his previous bands. The guy can shred indeed and seems like a great guitarplayer...but still, I think Mark Tremonti is a more complete guitarplayer...from full on Speed Metal stuff till some more Blues-Rock stuff the guy has it all. But yeah...Myles Kennedy has an unique touch when it comes too music.

Tremonti is pretty frickin good and once kennedy starts play some more the quality guitar in alter bridge songs is going to improve alot....mark even said "I think he’s a much better guitar player than I am...He’s a brilliant guitar player; the guy’s a jazz guy. He’s got the best vibrato of any guitar player I’ve ever seen. And that’s how I judge a guitar player – by their vibrato and their feel. And he’s got better than anybody I’ve seen"... I'm really excited for both the new Alter Bridge album that comes out in the summer of 2010 and the Myles Kennedy Solo album...and I little excited for the new Creed album.

Man...it's such a shame Mark Tremonti doesn't get enough credit. He is a hardworking and growing guitarplayer and very passioned about the stuff he does...in Creed AND Alter Bridge. The hope of real Rockmusic is in the hands of this guy as far as I am concerned.
