About this album
A year prior to the album’s release, “In Vein”, was performed live at Warped Tour 2007, streamed on the band’s official fan club on April 3 and was uploaded to the band’s MySpace site for 24 hours the following day.
On April 22 an EP with the same title was released on iTunes. The EP featured two tracks which had already been heard by fans and a new song entitled ‘Into The Night’.

In Vein, Help Me and Ruin it are brilliant. The rest is wavers between decent enough and mediocre. Still, I think I prefer it over This Addiction as a whole.

Matthew is fukin god and yes i agree i think this addiction is bad-ass..and waking up from this dream with nightmares lined up on my street, and wake me when u learn to be cooool leaves my lips every 2 or 3 minutes....but lol its actually my bday....and here comes sweet sweeet nausea...time to run my asssssss over to the bed while i can still stand and listen tooo his reverance in a fuking coma. :) :) :) :)

Maybe the only reason I can still like it is because it helped me get through a period of absolute hell in my life. Unfortunately, it also has made it nearly impossible to listen to. Still, amazing album. In My Stomach, which is missing here, is an absolute fantastic track, and if you haven't heard it, you're missing out. Lost and Rendered is probably one of their most creative songs.

Cross out tracks 5, 6, 7 and 8 and you'd have and excellent album.

This is not a bad album if it isn't judged as an Alkaline Trio album. However, as an Alkaline Trio album it is disgraceful. I am all for bands trying out new sounds, and honestly, the main reason I dislike this album so much is because I am a longtime fan of theirs. I thing Good Mourning, Crimson, and Remains all top this album many times over, but each of those albums are different. This one is, however, far different from their others, which only means they are trying to experiment further. You could say that this means that they will be far greater in the future. I won't bash the band for having a bad album. Duh, everyone learns from mistakes. i only hope they don't stray from their great use of metaphor any further.

"Calling all Skeletons" and "I Found Away" are actually pretty good. They should have put 'em on 'Remains' and skip the whole Album. Most of the other songs are really week and "love love.." tortures my ears, man I hate it. Hope they find back instead of away soon.

fair enough it's not their strongest album but i hate those bands that are good but every album sounds the same. and tbh it probably sounds different because they've grown up and their lives are heading in a different direction. this album tops many albums out there and i love the fact that each one is different :)
