Your Decision (4:42)

Cover of Black Gives Way to Blue

From Black Gives Way to Blue and 3 other releases

“Your Decision” is a song by Alice in Chains, featured on their fourth studio album Black Gives Way to Blue (2009). It was released as the third single from the album on November 16, 2009 in the UK, and was released in the US on December 1, 2009. The fourth track of the album, “Your Decision” is a power ballad that features an acoustic rhythm and breaks from the dark, aggressive leanings of the previous songs in exchange for an emotional tone that, while muted and perhaps tinged with sad resignation, can also be interpreted as calmer and more at peace. The single has, so far, reached number one on the Billboard Rock Songs chart, number one on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and number four on the Alternative Songs chart. This makes Alice in Chains the first artist to have two songs top the US Rock Songs chart.

In an interview for the making of the video of “Your Decision”, Duvall stated “This song is all about choices and their consequences”. Many fans believe this song was written from Cantrell to the late Layne Staley, who couldn’t kick his addiction to drugs. Staley died in 2002.

Jerry Cantrell is still keeping these guys alive... I love it. And this does almoooooost feel like the AIC I grew up with. Great regardless. And we still miss ya Layne. Hope you've found peace finally.

This gives the exact same feelings Nutshell does, both are great, special songs. I'm so proud of Jerry and the other guys for keeping the AIC soul alive. Duvall is pretty great as well, him and Jerry harmonize perfectly much like Jerry and Layne were.

One of the few bands, that still rock, though changing their - important and very special - lead singer. and i'm not talking about douchebags like dream theaters horror of a lead singer, i'm talking about individual, special quality, like layne had. good job duvall, good job alice.

i've said it before, i'll say it again, there can be NO replacement for Layne HOWEVER with that said, the "not so new dude" really gels the band. Props to him for stepping into some tough shoes to fill....saw them a year ago and there were moments I got the chills cuz he sounded exactly like Layne....I really felt he was there in spirit with us that night....
